forging links between designers, retailers and manufacturers
Celebrating its fourth year at The London Design Festival, Design-Nation announces an impressive line-up of UK retailers, manufacturers and designers, as part of the Eureka 2007 project, which forges links between Design-Nation members and the retail sector. The Eureka exhibition will run from 18 - 25 September at Somerset House, and the Eureka Design Awards ceremony will be held on 18 September.
The Eureka products range from furniture and upholstery to ceramics, lighting and pewter accessories, including bowls and clocks. This year's participants include many of the most progressive names in UK design.
The three sisters (Juliette, Eugenie and Isabel) behind upholstery manufacturer and furniture retailer Wesley-Barrell are working with sister design team Jackie Choi London; together they are designing a contemporary modular sofa. Greenwich Village plays host to a range of stylish accessories in pewter; four different designers challenge our perceptions of this classic medium. Two design partnerships are together working on two projects each this year: Hannah Dipper and Robin Farquhar for Heal's and Greenwich Village; Jackie Choi London for Wesley-Barrell and Innermost. Designers who are participating in the Eureka for a second time include Jona Hoad, Jasper Startup, Massimo Fenati and Kay + Stemmer. Retailer Heal's are participating in the Eureka project for the third year.
Other retailers and manufacturers joining Eureka 2007 include Royal Doulton, Hector Finch and AR Wentworth. Designers for 2007 are Hannah Dipper and Robin Farquhar (People will always need plates), Tim Parsons, Jasper Startup, Jackie Choi London, Massimo Fenati, Jona Hoad, Kay + Stemmer, Studiomama (Nina Tostrup), Alison Milner and Christiane Kersten.
